Meet Our Alpaca Herd

Alpaca are unusually bright and wonderful animals. Adorable, docile and soft, alpacas are prized as pets and raised for their soft fleece around the world. There are no wild alpacas. Alpacas are related to llamas - but often feel insulted if you say that. They rarely spit on people or each other. They are the smallest member of the camel family, 1/3 smaller than their llama cousins, with an average 3 foot height at their shoulder.

All of our alpaca are considered seniors - ages 12 and up. Most alpaca have a lifespan of 15-20 years.

  • Roy

At a spry 24, Roy is the last of his original herd who shared this land before Paws for Humanity came in. He is the ultimate charmer and a true gentleman. He’s been busy re-establishing relationships (ahem, leading the way) with our new herd.

  • Brownie

With a distinct animatronic quality, even we sometimes find it hard to believe that Brownie is real. She’s a beauty who can be very shy, unless you stand behind her - careful she might kick!

  • Abella

All hail Queen Abella! Her majestic looks and strong, silent demeanor are sure to have you sitting in awe. And as one of our tallest alpacas, she can look you right in the eye when she has something to say.

With a shy and curious nature, Snowberry sometimes hangs back, but never fails to get in on the action. Her smile always makes us smile.

  • Baxter

When he’s not following Albert around, Baxter is one of our most curious alpaca. He loves people and especially enjoys hay time with his friends.

  • Dynamite

Dynamite lives up to his name with a lot of energy and spunk! He considers himself the new alpha, but is working on maintaining the calm needed to be a true leader.

  • Chief

Chief was retired due to a hip issues that puts some getup in his step. But don’t worry - Chief holds his own and doesn't get pushed around. Chief is a strong silent type.
